Cliffords Cottage (Restaurant)
    Fire Damage Re-instatement
    Client: The Meadows Partnership
    Insurer: NFU

Cliffords Cottage at Bracklesham Bay is a Grade II Listed period cottage which for many years has been occupied as a small restaurant with owners living accommodation above.

The property suffered major fire damage in late 2012 leaving all but the four outer walls standing.

Following initial consultation with the Conservation Officer, a full scaffold was erected and the debris cleared.

The project went out to tender and the successful contractor was appointed in May 2013 and was successfully completed in October 2013 including a new thatched roof built in accordance with the ‘Dorset Model’. This included eyebrow dormers front and rear.

As such this iconic cottage on the main road to Bracklesham and East Wittering was successfully restored to the landscape.

We were assisted by Structural Engineers Archibald Shaw and the main contractor was Richard Jones Building Limited based in Bognor Regis.
