Vicars Close, Chichester
    Re-roofing – 2014/15
    Client: Private Home Owner

1 Vicars Close comprises an end of terrace period house dating back to 1520 and is Grade II Listed. It is beautifully situated within the Cathedral precincts and is considered one of the prettiest in the City.

Re-roofing works were required and we consulted with both the Conservation Officer and Cathedral Diocese Architect to agree the works. This included a requirement for bat surveys over a period of nine months.

A full scaffold with roof was erected and the slopes stripped with sound tiles salvaged for reuse and there were sufficient to re-cover the front and side slopes. Chimney stacks were repaired and rebuilt as necessary and all flashings and other leadwork replaced.

The project was successfully completed by Richard Jones Building Limited.
