Matthew Bennett, FRICS
Chartered Surveyor – Building Surveying
Matthew is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Building Surveying Division) and a RICS Registered Valuer.
Born and educated in Portsmouth, Matthew began his working life in architecture before qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1982 whilst working at Portsmouth City Council in their housing department.
Since then Matthew has worked as a surveyor and has been a Partner with an estate agent (Parkinsons), on the board of management of Lloyds Bank Black Horse Agencies and since 1989, been a Partner/Director in Cranes Chartered Surveyors which is now part of the AU Consultancy Group.
Matthew’s main areas of work include –
- Detailed surveys and valuation reports
- Expert Witness Reports under Civil Procedure Rules
- Party Wall Awards
- Defect diagnosis and in particular possible subsidence
- Large insurance claims with a special interest in Listed fire damaged properties
Matthew is married with two grown up daughters and lives in Rowland’s Castle. Matthew is a regular ‘park runner’ and plays competitive tennis in the Portsmouth & District League
Richard Stephens, FRICS
Chartered Surveyor – General Practice
Richard is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (General Practice) and a Registered Valuer.
Richard started his professional career in Birmingham dealing in both commercial and residential management and rent collections as well as fine art auctions.
He moved to Chichester in 1972 and has lived and worked in the general locality since then.
Richard works as a general practice surveyor and has been a Partner in a large firm of estate agents for many years, been on the board of management of Lloyds Bank Black Horse Agencies and since 1989 been a Partner/Director in Cranes Chartered Surveyors which is now part of the AU Consultancy Group.
Richard’s main areas of work include –
- Pre-purchase surveys including Homebuyers Reports and Building Surveys
- Valuations of all types
- Schedules of Condition and Dilapidations
- Commercial property management
Richard is married with two grown up sons. During his spare time, he enjoys outdoor pursuits including skiing and hill walking and golf with his main pursuit being competitive sailing in Chichester Harbour on a classic Solent Sunbeam. Some years ago, Richard was Chairman of Chichester Round Table and also Secretary to the Friends of Chichester Hospitals. Richard is now in the process of re-joining the Friends’ of Chichester Hospitals as a Trustee.
Ann Towersey – Secretary, PA
Ann offers support to the surveying team as well as undertaking administrative duties.
Amal Uddin LLB (Hons), LLM, PGDip, MCMI, ACIArb, FRICS
Amal Uddin is a Chartered Surveyor, with an exhaustive nationwide knowledge of the commercial property sector, and a highly experienced corporate property professional.
Amal has been in the property management sector for over 19 years working as a Corporate Management Surveyor in the City of London for a variety of leading corporate property companies, including CB Richard Ellis, Cushman & Wakefield (formerly DTZ) and the City Surveyors (for the City Corporation of London) as well as being called as a barrister by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn.
Amal has extensive knowledge and expertise in property portfolio/asset management – including negotiation of leases, undertaking rent reviews, commercial property valuations, down-sizing of surplus property portfolios as well as managing diverse property portfolios including shopping centres, retail, institutional, industrial, High Street and office/mix use properties nationwide.
In 2010 Amal established AU CONSULTANCY Chartered Surveyors, and as Managing Director heads up the AU GROUP of Companies.
